Juice to The Rescue: Three Day Juice Cleanse From Raw Generation πŸ₯¬πŸ₯•πŸŽπŸπŸ‹

Despite modern conveniences, our bodies are still hardwired from a long-gone time–where food scarcity threatened survival. Because of this, the body always wants food. Even with a ton of energy stored in fat, the body wants more. And eating less will often slow down metabolism, increasing fat storage as decreased consumption is perceived as a threat. This also happens when we eat poorly, when our bodies are not getting adequate nutrients from food. The body will cling, not trusting your choices, adjusting to your bad habits. It’s kind of fascinating to me!

I began this cleanse to flood my body with micronutrients, so my body would let go of some fat… and so I can reset–move into a more mindful approach to eating in this new phase of my life and its marked ease of weight gain. It’s the 3-day Skinny Cleanse from Raw Generation. And I highly recommend it.

Each day you drink one prepared juice every 3 hours or so, totaling 6. Coffee is “allowed” (black), as is some noshing on raw fruits or veggies if you must. The coffee thing is important. Other cleanses had me irritable and headachy because caffeine was off limits. These other cleanses were detox cleanses. Caffeine interferes with a detox cleanse, because it is, in essence, a psychoactive drug and gets processed as such–impacting the liver, small intestines, and other detox organs (source). This cleanse is more a reset, an assault of micronutrients and a break from the usual fat packing food: dairy and grains.

Day 1:

I felt great throughout the day. Did a mermaid shoot in the hot sun, went to a dental cleaning, did some pilates, etc. It was nice that thinking about what to eat didn’t invade my day, lol. I drank all the juices, but started to have strong cravings in the evening. I ate a raw carrot and a couple of chunks of fresh pineapple and it seemed to do the trick. The next morning I weighed myself and I had lost 3.9 pounds. Sure sure, maybe water weight… but physically I could see my body returning to me. And I felt really good.

Day 2:

I also felt great on day 2. I did give in to some solid fruit–I ate a whole orange and a couple of the aforementioned pineapple chunks. I took it easy physically except for 20 minutes of Core Fusion at the end of the day. I ran my errands as usual, doing laundry, etc, but it was so disgustingly muggy out I just wanted to get back in to veg out. After day 2, I had lost 5.4 pounds in total.

Day 3:

Day 3 was cut short as I was getting on a plane and unable to finish half of the juices. But I felt great and broke fast that evening with a light Vietnamese meal. Though I was unable to weight myself with the same scale I did the previous two days, my weigh in the following morning was a total of 6.6 less than my starting weight!

I highly recommend this juice cleanse and will be doing several of these throughout the year from this point onward!
