Into the Desert Wilderness🌵
Snow & Rainbows in the Desert

Heading north through the mountainous San Carlos and Fort Apache reservations made for a grueling day of driving. The windstorm that shook my vintage tiki bus through the night, whipping songs through it’s crevices, was part of the weather system that rocked travel across the country. Snow and frigid temperatures in the west… I hadn’t planned for it. I couldn’t camp and had to curtail all outdoor activities. By this time I was already sick, but activity levels were low enough to recuperate each day that followed.

My destination was Holbrook, Arizona, outside Flagstaff. And in getting there I traveled through every type of weather: rain, windstorm, snow, and rainbows. In fact, the rainbows traveled with me for quite sometime.

The dramatic lights and darks that had me expecting a rainbow around the corner…

The snow… but I had to hold on tight

The day delivered me to displaced tractor trailers filling the streets. The interstate had closed because of the severe conditions on the road. I would settle in. I had no other choice really.
