…In with ’19

New Years traditions are intriguing. There is a sweet whimsy to the symbolic gestures intended to tuck away the old and ring in the new. There is an innocence to their hope. This is day 1—potent and pure in a way that time will soon taint and obscure. So bask in the opportunity of renewal… before all that other b.s. takes over.

My symbolic gesture, a whole slew of Silver Dollar pancakes before the Coney Island’s Polar Bear Plunge. For prosperity in the New Year… and because I make really good pancakes if I do say so myself!

I even used the table. 1/1 is a special occasion. I’ll have to make sure I get chairs in the new year.

With bright, beautiful blue and 60 degree temps, it hardly seemed like a big deal jumping in the water. It was much, much colder when I partook in 2015. Today was an irresistible beach day!

My stylish footwear…

Lots of revelers. The communal feel of the event is definitely a draw.

Staking out a spot in the crowd to disrobe…

Playing in the sand in January. A simple pleasure

Getting ready to join the wave of plungers…

Excitement by the line-up

Flash forward, we plunged. It was glorious and I felt no need to put on clothing after running out of the water. Here’s to old friends who like to still act like kids. And upper body strength…

The light was too perfect not to capture pieces of one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. Coney Island, Baby

I wish the rides were running. It was a perfect day for the Wonder Wheel.

Goodbye Blue Sky.

And just because I’m going to tuck it away, like 2018, just a few more shots of my Polar Bear Plunge top

Happy New Year!
