I Want My Father’s Day Cake! [2021]

Because berry season and Father’s Day coincide, and it’s one of my Dad’s favorite combos, I go all out every year. Doubling this easy, fantastic recipe between two 9″ pans brought the beautiful base to life. Golden and delicious with a sneaky layer inside then spackled in vanilla cream cheese frosting… it was a real beauty.
I had some chocolate buttercream in the fridge from a failed baking endeavor, so I used it between the layers. This was the sneaky layer.
Then, after frosting, I dropped the cake into a barrel of berries.
Plenty of pictures to capture its beauty before the trip to Long Island kills its presentation.
