Hello Darkness, My Old Friend
August 11, 2019

During Cemetery Season (proper), I visited the Riverside Cemetery in Waterbury, Connecticut but couldn’t drive past the entrance due to ice and snow hazards. Enchanted by the robed mourning woman, I pledged I’d return. And so I did. Because I am a woman of my word.

She would prove to be the most attractive of the cemetery’s monuments after all.

Though there were others grieving in the bright blue sky…

…contemplating their days to follow without the interred.

Lap Collapse. This is a great band name.

Then there was this robust woman with the massive brow. Regal and slightly pissed off, she rests her feet on the monument holding a book of some importance. She’s got the knowledge that weighs heavy.

A smaller rural cemetery, I was glad I came back to see the pretty patina. But my lighter heart was not in a cemetery exploration today. Perhaps I’ll wait until the gloom of the winter returns.
