Happy Remote Mother’s Day

A beautiful day to celebrate Mother’s Day through the door…

Let’s start with the cupcakes. Though I love to show my affection with tremendous baking undertakings, my Mom doesn’t like complicated baked goods. For her day, a basic vanilla and a fudgy chocolate frosting, reminiscent of Duncan Hines.

They’re like bake sale cupcakes. Bake sales were where I learned I loved cupcakes. I couldn’t stand bakery cupcakes as a kid. Well, cupcakes are still very hard to impress me in a bakery–more often it’s a ton of waxy, over sweet buttercream and dry and dense, flavorless cake. But these are just right. You don’t need to smear half the frosting off and the cake is soft and golden. They look and feel like my Mom’s cupcakes.

I had to test one out. Ok, maybe more than one.

Ready for the Mother’s Day box

The box (wrapped with my vintage wrapping paper from my Grandmother, her Mother) with some sweet treats, her requests.
