Fogwood & Fig Opens!

I am very excited about Fogwood & Fig getting their own space.  So excited I went to their Grand Opening!  You see, “Grand Opening” are hostile words for an introvert. It means people. But people in Port Jervis are far less to endure than say Brooklyn.  So we braved our own social comfort zone for the reward of really good vegan food.  And the food prevailed as the victor!

On the brunch menu, three glorious choices.  I chose the Chickpea Crepe with house feta and sautéed mushrooms and onions, topped with dressed greens.  So delicious!  A subtle eggy flavor from the chickpea crepe and that pile of greens. It felt so good to eat food so flavorful and fresh.

And more, it felt really to support such quality folk like Diane and Jeff.  The space is bright and beautiful.  The food is crafted with care and thought.  Quality matters–in delivery and intention–and it sets Fogwood & Fig apart from just any ol’ new vegan options.

My friend’s Spanish Scramble, Tofu, onions, peppers, mushroom, chipotle, tomato, house feta, kale with creamy scallion dressing, toasted local pullman bread with organic house berry jam without the toast. A large portion of scramble done right: texture and flavor.  I just wanted potatoes… in both dishes actually.  I’m sure they’re are potato options on the horizon beyond this day 1.

I look forward to returning again and again as they settle into their new space.  Congratulations, Fogwood & Fig!

(Thumbprint cookies were also yummy.)
