Dough Doughnuts, the beloved doughnut shop with several locations and outposts within New York City, is one such establishment. They may have the best vegan doughnuts in New York City. [Perhaps I will make this official? Confirmation forthcoming 🍩 ] For me to make that claim after trying a doughnut I picked up from Brooklyn’s Whole Foods, which wasn’t freshly made but lounging in a clamshell container, is a big deal. Now on my NYC list is getting there for a fresh doughnut. I just salivated.

It’s the doughnut density that is so impressive. Soft and airy… without being just air. The delicate innards also taste delicious… it’s not just a vehicle for icings and toppings.
