Chef Tanya’s Kitchen

Chef Tanya is the force behind vegetarian mainstay Native Foods, an all-vegan casual eatery with locations in California, Colorado, Oregon and Illinois. Making seitan and tempeh from scratch since the 80’s (!!), her standards are high. So her latest eatery, Chef Tanya’s Kitchen, was a must on my visit to Palm Springs. The all-vegan shop supplies the area with grab n’ go offerings, sandwiches, burgers and salads, as well as a variety of vegan groceries, stickers and personal care items.

Behold the Tempeh Powerburger, house cultured tempeh, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo on a potato bun. Dreamy and delicious.

Tempeh is one of my faves because I know the texture will always be pleasing. This was a delicious sandwich for my empty stomach.

I look forward to trying more of her offerings when back in California. Hmm, who’s house-culturing tempeh in New York???
