Catching Up at Willow

Willow, in Manhattan’s Chelsea, has some great elevated eats. Though they are still fine-tuning their operation, it’s definitely worth a stop.

Drinks. Not mind-blowing, so I likely wouldn’t opt for libations if I visited again. They really pad the bill!

I didn’t like the flatbread. It wasn’t till just a few moments ago that I realized they served us the wrong one! We order the Balsamic one… this one, the Marinara had “mozzarella,” red onions, kalamata olives, seared oyster mushrooms, and fresh basil. Kind of a waste.

The “Scallop” Cacio e Pepe is organic semolina linguine, oyster mushroom “scallops,” wakame, creamy “parmesan” sauce, cracked black pepper, evoo, and parsely. Flavorful and creamy. Wished they’d weed in the larger girth mushroom parts for more satisfying “scallop” feel.

But really delicious.

The BBQ Ribs was roasted seitan ribs, housemade barbecue glaze, amazing hand cut fries, and garlic broccolini. Really good. Steak frites kind of amazing. Seitan was really tasty, though I I’d prefer a bit more tender.

Dessert–the Bananas Foster Cake is caramelized bananas, rum flambé sauce, strawberry coulis, topped with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Very good. Cake is more like a biscuit–sturdy.

I’m a sucker for anything banana-y for dessert!

A couple of snaps to mark the passing of time. Slow down, 22.
