Eating A Lot In Los Angeles

As usual, I have to eat a lot in LA. This time I tried to put a dent in the tons of vegan fried chicken places I have been drooling over from afar. Starting with Uncool Burgers… on my list because I thought I could get an Atlas Monroe chicken sandwich there, but that is no longer the case. Kind of disappointing, as was having to order on a computer while employees just sat around talking…

Their “Amazing Vegan Fried Chicken Sandwich”… definitely not made in-house, though they might house-fry it… wow.

It’s “soy-based.” Yeah so is the McDonalds hamburger. I wouldn’t go back here and am kind of peeved I missed the opportunity to try a better option. This here sandwich has no crag at all.

Next was Wolfie’s… now this place is really good. You can just tell by the picture it’s the real deal.

This has got me drooling all over again. I need to put Wolfie’s up to Lettuce Feast. Now that would be quite the battle! This is the Nashville: spiced buttery nashville sauce, creamy slaw, bread & butter pickles, chili garlic aioli on a soft bun. It was knocking on Perfect’s door loudly.

Clearly seitan and covered with flavor contributors. It was a dreamy sandwich.

Next yet another spot that has stopped carrying Atlas MonroeHoneybee Burger offers mini-chicken sammies for those who have been feasting on them the better part of the afternoon. They make their own vegan chicken sammies (I think), so their touting of their burgers, Impossible burgers, is kind of bizarre.

This is the “baby” Chick-A-Bee, though it seemed regular sized for me!

Great crag crunch, but it doesn’t hold up so well. The flavor wasn’t as fantastic as Wolfie’s and the breading was too wet, causing it to separate. This is a tough textural predicament that would lose points in a battle.

I wet my vegan fried chicken appetite and now I want to finish my Los Angeles brackets!

But it was a trip to my most favorite vegan donut shop Donut Friend and their new ice cream-centric location: Creamo. We ran to this place from the parked car to make sure we got in before they closed.

I order this crazy Taking Back Sundae… two scoops of ice cream, fresh banana, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, rainbow sprinkles and a cherry on tp sitting on one of their donuts. It was decadent and gluttonous.

I made Kevin eat most of it…

To-go donuts. Donuts that are perfect.

Other CA things…

I’ll be back soon, LA!
