Blue Spring State Park
Orange City, Florida

Soon my daily life will be completely different and temporarily out of my control. Finally, my career shift is coming to fruition… so I needed to take an excursion before these drastic changes. I cashed in my miles for a quick excursion to Florida. My first stop was Blue Spring State Park, about an hour north of Orlando.

Wanting ‘difference’ in all ways for a bit, the spring was lush and beautiful. But the manatees that had been so plentiful in the weeks leading up to my visit were gone, save for one fellow I excitedly witness munching away in the beautiful turquoise.

In the palms

So much green

Since it was still manatee season, which apparently leads up to firefly season, there was no recreating in the springs. But there were plenty of onlookers.

Layers of lush

Here comes the manatee. He had a tracker on him… I learned later that this meant she had undergone some sort of rehabilitation and was recently returned to the water.

Manatee #72

It was a gorgeous quick visit, but I was beat from traveling. Tomorrow would be a long day, so I needed to hit the motel room for some sleep. Goodnight, FLA
