Blessed are the Vegan Sandwich Makers
Ridgewood, Queens

As I continue to chomp on new vegan sandwich options across New York City, my next offering: The Spicy Peanut Sandwich from Rolo’s in Ridgewood, a new eatery from cred-backed chefs who have a clear passion for high quality food and excellent service.

Of course their vegan sandwich option would hold the same standard of quality… a spicy and scrumptious combination of thin fried tofu, grilled red cabbage, and crunchy bites of cucumber slavered in a delicious makrut lime peanut sauce on their house-baked sesame bread. I’ll give you a second to re-read that. Did you salivate? I did.

I devoured the sandwich on one of their outside tables as the lime peanut sauce ran down my hand. The flavor could not be contained. This is a wonderful vegan sandwich option that has flavor and texture combinations that I will be craving henceforth.

My “Picture of each bite” seal of major approval. Thank you for giving vegans such a delicious option, Rolo’s.

A shot of some of their prepared foods. Oh, the colors and the great font. These little details are not unappreciated.

Because it was just around the corner, I had to check in on vegan options at Rudy’s Pastry Shop, previously visited in 2018 (i.e. like 10 years ago). And thankfully they had the same two vegan options available. It was a no-brainer! Though I would like to check out some more of their vegan selections. I will just have to head back to Ridgewood soon!

How I love to see the v-bomb in non-vegan eateries!

Back to Bay Ridge. Going on these Queens missions are like going to a different state! It’s a bit tougher now that that no one’s bathroom is open during the pandemic. All worth it to uncover such deliciousness.

Back at the couch… Really now, their carrot cupcake, with its gorgeous flecks of vanilla bean in their luscious cream cheese frosting, might be one of the best vegan cupcakes in the city.

Go Ridgewood! Their vegan options are pretty special.
