Blessed are the Vegan Sandwich Makers
It’s Always Sunny in Sunnyside, Queens

I’ve got a lot more energy since work is remote again because of a Covid cluster. So I ventured all the way out to Sunnyside, Queens for some vegan food, then walked to the Long Island City waterfront to take the ferry all the way back home. The coming of Spring gets me motivated! Today’s Thursday treat-myself, an unassuming bodega in Sunnyside that kinda oddly has a huge selection of vegan eats: Always Sunny Grocery & Deli.

[insert Always Sunny… song]

You know I love these oddball vegan options…

The bodega had some great vegan snacks too.

Ok, after my walk I basked in the Spring air devouring this sloppily in front of all the doggies and strollers at Gantry Plaza. The “vegan” sticker is a nice reassurance.

I got the Philly Cheesesteak to stick with the theme, the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia theme.

Not the thin strips of seitan I was expecting, but it still hit the spot. So happy that vegan options are infiltrating so deeply that corner stores are developing all-vegan menus. It allows me to participate in a sacred New York City ritual… gluttonous deli sandwiches.

Big fan of Charlie πŸ™‹

Of course, the gorgeous view of Manhattan across the East River as I waited for my ferry

Thanks for the sandwiches, New York City.
