Astoria’s Comfortland has some pretty gluttonous vegan fare on their omni menu. And that is exactly what I needed. Here, the next offering of New York City’s fantastic vegan sandwich options: The Freaken Vegan.
But first, their adorable signage and outdoor space.
The Freaken Vegan is a double-decker of crispy fried seitan, slices of vegan American cheese, pickles, mayo and special sauce on a seeded bun. Yes, like the Big Mac.
Also note the Vegan Tootsie Roll Cold Brew… they also have a rotating selection of donuts, some vegan.
Here it is… in all its glory.
It was an amazing specimen. Most impressive is the crisp factor of the deep-fried seitan. It makes me think that I should do another fried chicken battle! I want to put it in the ring.
But just look for now, till you run and try one for yourself.
Nom nom nom… Can’t believe I ate 98% of it.
