Birthday Cake For Me

Yes, my birthday requires several rounds of cake! First, some cupcakes from the DMV’s Bakeshop from my guy.

We got the pumpkin, red velvet, funfetti and chocolate-chocolate.

We enjoyed the cakes more than the frosting. There was this pleasing Devil Dog flavor in the the chocolate-based cupcakes and great pumpkin flavor in the seasonal great. The funfetti was disappointedly not a funfetti cake. Kind of lazy…

Onward to my parents, a beautiful layer cake made by Peach & Pine Cafe‘s baking superstar Ashley. Despite being deep in the tasks of opening their storefront on Long Island, Ashley made the time to make this gorgeous cake. Such exquisite work!

“Forty Something” because I always forget how old I am. Time passes in such large chunks not necessarily numerically, so I have to do quick math to figure it out. And this is not shame, I am damn proud to be Generation X, the last of the true cool.

It was delicious! The almond buttercream made all the difference. Regular buttercream is just so sweet! I need some flavor in my buttercream.

It was well-received!
