Back at the Very Large Array

I first visited Very Large Array, a National Radio Astronomy Observatory, in February of 2018. My goal in 2022 was to get better shots of the many radio telescopes at the observatory and appreciate it a bit more since my first visit I kind of went in blind. I also have fantasized about the telescopes in the foreground of astro-pics. πŸ€“

But the long drive to Very Large Array was a bit of a bust. For one, it was closed to the public. Meaning the once open and self-guided walking tour was not allowed–with signage near its entrance declaring the grounds completely off limits. For two, the clouds gathered as I drove the adjacent roads to some of the telescopes that were more accessible. This made the idea of a night shoot a bust.

So I will just have to go back… perhaps to check out these next generation radio telescopes… in the meantime, here are some of my shots from the short stay in Socorro, New Mexico.
