Back at Staten Island’s Abandoned Bayley Seton Hospital

Like a lot of New Yorkers, I picked up a rental car today. My secret for an affordable price is to rent on my neighbor, Staten Island. While I was there, multitasking as usual, I planned to hit up a Caribbean eatery that offers a vegan dish. So I had some hours to kill. With my camera and urban exploration mask on hand, I returned to Stapleton’s Bayley Seton Hospital, venturing to the second floor of the doctor’s quarters that I’ve visited in my previous trips. The roof has gaping holes and the stairs are laden with debris, so I nervously and swiftly snapped away–resulting in a lot of blurry shots unfortunately. But as I strolled the rest of the grounds I met some friendly folks getting some fresh air outside the psychiatric inpatient unit. 😬 And the Caribbean place wound up being a fail… so here are my couple of hours.

Upstairs

I might have taken this exact picture at an earlier visit.

Upstairs in the other building

I really want to get in.

Homebase

A woman told me this was the crematory and that Kevin Bacon movies had been shot here.

But it was the Power Plant… as far as I can tell.

See you again soon, Bayley Seton.
