All Hail the 🥦
Fort Greene, Brooklyn’s Broccoli Bar

Every week I head to Fort Greene for my Covid test. Soooo, you know I’m going to hit up Brooklyn spots on my vegan list while I’m around–away from the dearth of vegan option around my own neighborhood. A quick walk through the lovely Fort Greene Park, that may have better trees than Prospect Park…

See the 🧡?

….and I was at Broccoli Bar, an all-vegan corner shop dressed to green-9’s in broccoli imagery and that lovely V-word.

They specialize in…broccoli. But it’s like no other broccoli you’ve ever had: tempura-battered crispy fried broccoli, masala broccoli vegetable pakora, Korean BBQ-spiced char-grilled broccoli, and dumplings topped with coconut green curry broccoli sauce. And they mixed me up a medley so I could try it all! (But I’m not that special–you can mix it up however ya damn please.) Let look at some different angles.

It’s like getting broccoli-related street grub from several countries while sitting at a counter watching Brooklyn pass by…

I also got the Dirt Dawg — a blackened, smoked carrot, mustard, broccoli kraut, remulade, “spunions” inside a soft French bread. Hard for my lil’ mouth to eat but well worth the remulade all over your face, hands, shirt, counter… 😋

Quick and easy and delicious, welcome to Brooklyn, Broccoli Bar.

Carrot admiration. Are you drooling?
