All For the Nuggets

You may have heard of Nuggs by SIMULATE? They had some buzz and lots of investors since their incarnation in 2019. But they are really nothing new–texturized soy protein chicken-y food product, like the kind May Wah has been offering since the early 2000’s. But with attractive socials presence and slick packaging, Big Food is trying to grab a hold of the very lucrative “plant-based” market.
SIMULATE recently partnered with the usual suspects for late night delivery to Brooklyn’s Greenpoint and Manhattan’s Lower East Side. So, having reason to pass through Greenpoint, I used my friend’s address to give them a whirl.

After the first delivery was a bust because the Nuggs were not packed, I waited around for a second delivery. Finally, I received the Nuggs, which are way smaller then they appear in their marketing material. And really nothing special, that same texturized soy protein that I kinda mostly swore off, but thinner.

They really need to get on a dipping sauce. They offer the Nuggs coated in some flavors/sauces, but we all want to dip Nuggs!

That’s all–Nuggs.
