Abandoned Things Along the Way, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia
October 18, 2024
As if to give me everything I wanted, after a yummy vegan lunch in nearby Bolivar, WV, we found the ruins of the Shenandoah Pulp Factory in nearby Harpers Ferry. The old pulp mill was impressive and surrounded by this delightful bright green sludge. Though the structure was impressive, I was more excited about the color of this verdant pond.
We climbed about it and tried to guess how deep the sludge was.
As we traveled onward, this house caught my attention. As you can see it is in an exquisite state. So we pulled up to it and I crept in while he watched the goings on outside a bit down the street. He likes concocting explanatory stories about his presence if, by chance, the local authorities may inquire. They are always amusing.
I went in but only briefly. Some days I scare more easily than others. It’s a self preservation instinct I suppose. Or related to my menstrual cycle, like most of my female existence. I can talk about that forevs.
I got some cool shots but all my DLSR shots are blurry because well, now I need reading glasses as it is impossible to see if my shots are in focus with my contacts on.
Lovely built ins in this old house
I miss the rush of exploring. I must do it again real soon.
