Abandoned Letchworth Village, Post 1 of 5
The Dormitories
May 3, 2020
After my first visit to Letchworth Village in February, I knew that I would soon return. The expansive cluster of accessible remnants to the asylum for the physically and mentally disabled that was established over 100 years ago seems destined for eventual demolition… like in your next step through its space, now the physical manifestation of the pain it spawned within the most vulnerable. This fairly thorough visit would be divided into 5 parts as each space merits its innards brought to life. First, the dormitories–identical in layout each dormitory building offers unique states of decay. Like in the days of its overcrowded operation, the floor is lined with mattresses, unkempt debris. In these spaces people wasted away, hidden. So let us look now.
