How delightful a find in Luray, Virginia! After checking out the cute historic town 10 miles out of Shenandoah National Park, I discovered vegan options were available at Happy Mart & Deli… a gas station. A gas station that serves up authentic Indian food?! I called to verify they were open and had vegan options for me. Yes and yes.
What.
Where a convenience mart might have a counter for terrible American-style crap, this place has Indian/Nepali food. And the owners are super nice, chatty and accommodating.
Aloo Gobi and Chana Masala with rice and some crispy vegetables. Just what I needed.

Also, a samosa.
What an unexpected discovery. And so nice chatting with the couple who runs the place. Unexpected and instant connections that naturally occur at random–one of the best things about the road.
