πŸ’ž Singles Awareness Day Crafts πŸ’ž

No one gets more excited about Valentine’s Day than 7th graders I think. This I decided while offering my classroom to some of my last year’s students for lunch, where they wrote profound love quotes on my dry erase boards, so potent and new to their awareness. I tried not to rain on their parade. Learning to love and learning about you within love are some of the most important things you bring into your trip to adulthood. (I didn’t tell them the you never know just how messed up someone is until you try to love them. I read that somewhere, but I agree.) But anyway, did you know that “love is never true but It’s true when you find it”?

So this enthusiasm, on the first Valentine’s Day I’ve been single in real long time, is more for my students. In preparation for my classroom celebration, I started a bookfolding pattern on one of my favorite vintage books… but I ran out of pages for my heart. (poignant pause) But it was a good troubleshoot before embarking on it with my class.

I want to make more patterns. There are some really complicated ones!

It was also time for a new wreath craft! I had tons of pink and red beads that needed a home.

…plus dollar store stuff and vintage Valentines I haven’t had cause to use in like decades.

I made it as chaotic as that very divine chaos.

The anatomical heart did not make it onto the wreath as I decided I had other plans for it.

All done!

Gosh, this thing is tacky!
