⚪ 🌲💫 Happy Life Day 💫 ⚪🌲

Life Day is a holiday in the Star Wars galaxy. Detailed in the absolutely cringe-inducing Star Wars Holiday Special, a made-for-tv special made in 1978, the holiday is traditionally celebrated on November 17. Since we would not be celebrating Thanksgiving with the kids, we decided to utilize the cookbook we found at a trip to the public library and create a Life Day Feast the day before.

It was ambitious–Besides the fact that there’d be a lot of cooks in the two kitchens, the next day I’d be cooking a 6-course Thanksgiving meal for me and my guy. In the end, the recipes were a bit lackluster but it was a worthy endeavor!

Named for the pink and green desert of the planet Mirial…

A signature dish of a Gilliand woman named Z’Vk’Thkrkza who used to run a tavern on a refueling platform on the edge of Wild Space.

From the forest floor of Kashyyyk, orga root doesn’t need much to be delicious.

The recipe hails from Lothal but was altered slightly.  Either way, it honors the arboreal aesthetic of the Life Day season.

This plant-based version of the reptavians native to Naboo are coated with the most potent spices in the Outer Rim.

This bread comes from the Ewoks, but unfortunately it burnt up in transport.

Like the glowing orbs so symbolic of the holiday, these jelly versions are magical.
